Terms and Conditions and Delivery Arrangements

Timing:

Many of our pieces are kept in stock at our warehouse. Some need to be made to order by one of our workshops. Lead times may vary, therefore you will be given an estimated leadtime with your order confirmation email. Once the goods are safely in our warehouse and ready for delivery, we aim to despatch them within 14 days. However please allow up to 28 days for delivery to help with our complicated route planning!

Furniture delivery

London – FREE FOR ORDERS ABOVE £400:

We deliver to addresses within the M25 using a 2 person, professional furniture delivery service. Often a 2-hour window can be given, meaning you don’t have to wait in all day. These items are installed in the room of your choice, assembled where necessary and all packaging is removed. There is no charge for this service.

Orders totalling less than £400 usually cost between £35 and £60, depending on location.

UK and Ireland:

Deliveries outside of the M25 but within the UK or Ireland are carried out by a courier service. Therefore items are delivered to your door only. Any necessary assembly or disposal of packaging needs to be undertaken by the customer.

The cost for this service (for orders totalling above £400) is FREE if in England, £100 if in Wales or southern Scotland, £180 for Scottish Highlands, Ireland, UK Islands.

Outside of the UK or Ireland:

We undertake deliveries throughout the world. We are happy to quote for this service.

Non furniture items:

We charge 10% of the total order amount for packaging and shipping. Please select 'non furniture shipping' when you are prompted to select a delivery method.Orders over £400 are delivered free of charge.

Some extremely breakable items may be for collection only.

Access:

Please note that many of our items, being solid premium woods, are extremely heavy. Although some dismantle for access purposes (usually tables, wardrobes and beds), most do not. This is not flat-packed furniture! Therefore please double check that the piece of furniture you have ordered will fit into the space where you want it.

Returns and cancellations:

We are in the business of selling good quality furniture that is built to last. However if there is a fault with your goods, or we have made a mistake, please notify us straight away and we will address this immediately. Products must be in their original, undamaged packaging. Items not in original packing may be charged a restocking fee of up to 25%.

Note: natural characteristics of solid wood (grain patterns, knots, variations in colouring etc.) are not considered to be faults - they are part of the unpredictable beauty of nature! Hard wax is sometimes used to even surfaces - this is also not considered a fault. It is worth mentioning that wood is hygroscopic. This means it will adapt to the moisture in its environment. The wood used for our furniture is always dried to the correct moisture levels, and the pieces are constructed to structurally withstand movement. Nevertheless changing moisture levels in the environment may result in small amounts of movement throughout the year. Please see our notes in ‘Furniture Care’ for more information.

If you wish to return an item that is not faulty please notify us within 7 days of receipt. We will be happy to refund or credit you, but unfortunately cannot pay for the return delivery costs. Items must be returned in perfect condition and in their original, undamaged packaging. We are not responsible for return postage or packages that do not reach us.

Unwrapped mattresses, bedding and assembled pieces are not returnable unless they are faulty.

Regrettably we are unable to refund bespoke or custom made pieces.

Please allow 30 days to process a refund/credit once the returned goods are received by us, and any refund will be credited to the original payment card. The address for returns is Chest of Drawers Ltd, SmartVan, Unit 1, Discovery Business Park, St. James’s Road, London SE16 4RA.

You have the right to cancel the order at any time up to the end of 7 working days after you receive your order. To exercise your right of cancellation, you must give written notice to Chest of Drawers Ltd by with appropriate details of the items ordered and delivery. Only written notice will be accepted.

If you would like to cancel after the items have been delivered to you, you will be responsible for returning them to Chest of Drawers at your own cost, in original packaging. The items must be returned to our warehouse: Chest of Drawers Ltd, SmartVan, Unit 1, Discovery Business Park, St. James’s Road, London SE16 4RA. Please see above for more details.

You must take reasonable care to ensure the items are not damaged in the meantime or in transit. Subsequent to providing written notice to Chest of Drawers Ltd that you are cancelling the order, We cannot refund items that have not been returned.

Privacy policy:

To comply with the Data Protection Act (1984) we are required to inform you that we have recorded your contact details for the sole purpose of processing your order and keeping you up to date with Chest of Drawers' news and offers. This is for internal use only. We will never sell or provide your contact details to third parties.

We have managerial and technical processes which secure and safeguard your contact and financial details. We do not store your financial details.
