We now offer fantastically flexible made-to-measure modular storage systems. Made of 100% solid European oak or solid American black walnut, our Tatra system is designed and built to an exceptional standard. Whether it's a small unit to fit into an alcove, or a large wall system to display a collection, the Tatra is a functional solution for all storage needs.

Tatra was created due to the need for a solid wood modular storage system that could dismantle for delivery (to enable delivery of large storage units we needed it to come in sections that we build in situ – one that can get up staircases, over banisters and around tight corners).

 

 

Over the last decade the design duo of Leo Cellar and Frans Hamers have developed their workshop into one of Europe’s leading manufacturers of high quality, well designed furniture. They particularly like working with solid oak and walnut and still do most of the work by hand. They do, however, use modern technology to cut and measure the wood – their state of the art CNC machines are an important part of the process. Timber is dried at the workshop’s own kilns and stored in moisture controlled barns. All pieces are hand finished with tints and oils.

 

 

How you want to design the modular system is totally up to you. You can create your own bookshelves, cupboard, library, room divider, media unit - the options are yours. We've just launched the very cool oak Metamorphic folding table-cum-chair, as designed by the British furniture and product designer, John Reeves, and exclusive to Chest of Drawers. This innovative yet simple design offers a versatile solid oak side table which doubles up as a chair.

In this stunning design, John Reeves re-visits the idea of multi functionalism and metamorphosis. The result is a beautiful side table that can remain as that, or alternatively be transformed into an equally striking chair. The contoured scoop of the back rest is used as a handle to lever open the table to become a side chair.

 

 

From the side view, the opening function is perfectly disguised, so you would never guess its clever dual nature.

 

 

When not in use, these tables/chairs can be stacked helically as high as you dare, due to the specially moulded shape on the inside of the legs. This metamorphic piece is ideal for city living where clever use of space is paramount, or simply for those who adhere to a more minimalist style of interior.
